SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson hasn't given up on trying to lift a city ordinance that limits the number of bars allowed on a city block.
Anderson has revived his efforts to get rid of the limit. He tried before in 2001 and was soundly defeated.
Anderson says allowing only two bars on a city block face is outdated and unnecessary.
Anderson brought the idea up yesterday during a community meeting. He says increasing the concentration of bars would help his proposal for a downtown arts district.
But City Council members may not warm up to the idea. Council Chairman Dave Buhler says Anderson can propose the idea, but the topic isn't high on Buhler's priority list.
