(KSL News) Special Education teachers from all over the country were in Salt Lake today. One was awarded for the unique way she connects with kids.
Connie Miller uses video modeling with her students. She tapes them doing tasks, and edits out the mistakes, so they see themselves performing perfectly... and it's working.
Connie Miller/Special Ed. Teacher of the Year: "It's really, really, rewarding as a teacher to see a student start reading for the first time at 15 years old or start speaking for the first time and have meaningful conversations."
A Utah teacher was also recognized for getting her special education students involved in the prom, yearbook, and field trips.
