(KSL News) -- A Kaysville fifth grader's innovative idea to save energy earned her a national honor.
National Energy Foundation officials surprised Cassandra Collard at Heritage Elementary. The organization held a contest for students to find ways to save energy. Cassandra wrote an "I Spy" book to show off her ideas.
Cassandra Collard, Energy Contest Winner: "In a real I Spy book you try to find the ways, and so that's what I did."
She's one of three national winners.
Cassandra and one of her parents will go on a free trip to Hawaii later this month. Then in June, she'll go on another trip to Washington, DC.
