OGDEN — A 35-year-old man was charged Thursday with murdering his 3-month-old stepdaughter.

Jeremy Marshall was charged with aggravated murder, a first-degree felony, in Ogden's 2nd District Court.

Emergency crews were called to a home on the 2600 block of Van Buren Avenue on Dec. 14 where they found Kennedy Lucille "Baby K" Marshall in need of medical attention due to "unresponsive behavior," according to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court.

"The child was examined in the ER and brain injury consistent with non-accidental trauma" was discovered, according to court documents.

Kennedy died later that day at the hospital.

Marshall allegedly told family members that he caused the death. "Marshall told me that he had struck the child's head in the crib with substantial force but it was accidental," court papers state.

On her Facebook page, Kennedy's mother, Afton Moneypenny, said, "Justice will be served, it's starting to begin. Jeremy Marshall is now in jail custody. I feel lighter like well I cant describe it so lol Mama loves you baby K." The comment was posted on Monday.

Earlier, on Dec. 22, she posted: "Who would murder a sweet baby girl named Kennedy ... Jeremy Marshall did. I am so hurt, pissed actually livid, my heart is broken I don't think i can do it anymore, I'm dead and numb inside, just kill me I'm sooooooo hurt."

Wednesday, she thanked people for their support during this "treacherous" time.

During an initial court appearance Thursday for Jeremy Marshall, bail was set at $100,000. Marshall's next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
