(KSL News) -- Residents spoke out tonight over what to do one of the largest pieces of open space left in Salt Lake City.

Rowland Hall Saint Mark's private School is proposing a high school and soccer fields between Mount Olivet Cemetery and Sunnyside Avenue. Right now, that area is undeveloped cemetery property. Neighbors in the Yalecrest area want the field to stay open space, but the cemetery needs the money and Rowland Hall wants to expand.

Tonight, people spoke out on both sides of the issue, to the Salt Lake city council, which will decide what happens.

"I'm worried about this space. I'm worried that it won't be able to, that they can't take care of it. What will happen to the cemetery itself?"

"We think this plan allows us all to be together in a way that benefits the neighborhood and the school."

The Rowland Hall deal would be an outright sale, which Congress would have to approve.
