SALT LAKE CITY — A 22-year-old Holladay man faces kidnapping and assault charges after police say he beat his ex-girlfriend and kept her locked in a hotel room for four days.

Police say Sergio Lee Gregory kept his ex-girlfriend locked in a room at the Studio 6 motel at 975 E. Winchester St., Murray, from Dec. 2 to Dec. 5. During that time, Gregory "beat, kicked and threatened her" and "would not allow her to leave the room," according to charges filed Monday in 3rd District Court.

At one point, (Gregory) slapped her head so hard that she saw stars.

While at the motel, Gregory threatened to duct tape the woman, "throw her in a bag and be done with her," according to the charges. He also put a pillow over the woman's head and punched the back of her head several times, the charges state.

"At one point, (Gregory) slapped her head so hard that she saw stars," according to the charges.

The woman told police she spent much of the weekend trying to keep Gregory happy while she waited for an opportunity to call for help.

Gregory has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony; as well as assault and criminal mischief, both class A misdemeanors. He is scheduled to appear in court on the charges at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
