TOOELE VALLEY -- The Teen Driving School, based at Miller Motorsports Park, is pleased to announce its complete schedule of schools for 2012.
The Teen Driving School, which operates within the Miller Performance Schools, is a four-hour, intensive driving- skills program that takes up where high-school driver's education programs leave off. The Teen Driving School teaches defensive-driving skills, principles of vehicle dynamics and emergency vehicle-control techniques, including expanded concepts of driving, understanding and using anti-lock braking, high-speed emergency lane changes and skid prevention and control in changing road and weather conditions.
Most teens complete a driver's education course in high school and feel that they are completely ready to drive on the highway.
"Chances are that the training they received in driver's education was the bare minimum required to pass the licensing test," said Dan McKeever, Director of the Miller Performance Schools. "We teach defensive driving techniques and potentially life-saving skills to effectively control a vehicle in emergency situations. Our classes are conducted in a controlled, safe and hands-on environment. Class sizes are limited to ensure that each participant receives personalized attention and feedback for any questions or concerns that may arise."
Each school's half-hour classroom session is followed by direct, in-vehicle instruction in the school's fleet of Ford Focus sedans and a specially prepared Skid Car. With three instructors and a maximum of 12 students per clinic, every student will receive more than adequate practice time.
"I think it's awesome, and I want to recommend this to everyone that I know, especially parents who have sons and daughters getting ready to drive," commented Utah Jazz Dancer MiKell. "I honestly feel that this could save someone's life. You learn things here that you don't learn in Driver's Education, and you're put in situations here in a safe environment that you wouldn't actually experience unless you were in a dangerous situation."
Dates for the Teen Driving School in 2012 are as follows:
Saturday, April 14
Saturday, May 19
Saturday, June 9
Saturday, July 14
Saturday, August 25
Saturday, September 8
Saturday, October 13
