SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Utah Jazz have hired Michael Sanders as a player development coach to work with young big men Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors.

Sanders has numerous ties to current Jazz officials.

As a four-year player at UCLA, he was a member of the 1980 Bruins team that reached the NCAA championship under head coach Larry Brown, then assisted by current Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor.

Sanders played 11 seasons in the NBA and was teammates in Phoenix with current Jazz assistant Jeff Hornacek from 1986-1988 before being traded to Cleveland in a five-player deal that involved current Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin as part of the package the Suns received.

Sanders spent the 2010-11 season as an assistant coach with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League.
