HONOLULU -- BYU was hoping to end their season on a high note in a place where they haven't won in years, and behind, believe it or, the big arm of Riley Nelson they won big.

The Hawaii Warriors hosted the BYU Cougars at Aloha Stadium and BYU's defense and offense started out slow.

BYU's place kicker, Justin Sorensen, had some opportunities to put the Cougars on top, but missed two field goals and appeared to lose his confidence.

"Sorensen missed field goal No. 2 on the day ... And Hawaii answers with a slip screen that goes 79 yards for a touchdown. Big turnaround," tweeted @JaredrLloyd.

The momentum seemed to be swinging Hawaii's way, but BYU came out after the half trailing 13-10 and Riley Nelson turned it on. Nelson looked like a magician as he hit receivers on what looked like impossible throws.

"Great play! Nelson steps out of a sack and hits Hoffman in-stride for a one-hand snag 38 yd TD rec," tweeted KSL NewsRadio's Andrew Adams.

"In the 28pt 3rdQ, BYU's Riley Nelson is 8-11/168yds/2TDs. Solid numbers for Mr. Lucky 13," tweeted @ESPNCFB.

The defense held strong and cornerback Joe Sampson added a defensive TD, but it was Nelson's night.

"Riley Nelson's 363 passing yards are the most in a game since Max Hall threw for 377 yards in a 38-21 home win over Air Force on 11/21/09," tweeted the voice of the Cougars Greg Wrubell.

Now the Cougars wait to see who they will play in the Armed Forces Bowl and BYU fans have another question on their minds; does Heaps stay at BYU or does he transfer to another school and get two years as a starter?
