SOUTH SALT LAKE -- A year after Sherry Black was brutally murdered inside her small book store in South Salt Lake, her killer remains on the loose. But Black's family is hopeful that someday the killer will be found.

On Wednesday night, family and friends held a memorial at Black's gravesite, honoring a wife, mother and friend. Her family is hoping the memorial, in addition to speaking out about her death, will lead to new information about the murder.

On the year anniversary of her murder, her husband Earl Black said he is still lonesome. He and his daughter, Heidi Miller, huddled in the rain at her gravesite, hugging friends and family in the dark.

Balloons in her favorite colors of pink and yellow were also released. The cold and wet weather brought many of the balloons back down to the cemetery before being released again.

"It was about celebrating her," said Heidi Miller. "Just remembering her, trying to get some positive into the negative you know. We love her and we miss her."

"It's part of the healing process for Heidi and Earl to just honor Sherry on the one year anniversary of her murder," said son-in-law Greg Miller.

Sherry Black had about 100,000 books in her store. And at some point, she had held every single one of them.

Black's family believes someone out there knows something, and they hope someone will come forward with information about the murder.

"It might be that tip that helps us find this person," said Heidi Miller. "And this person needs to be found. We're going to get ya, sooner or later, we're going to get ya."

The recent media attention has already sparked a few new leads, but the family is urging anyone with even the smallest amount of information to come forward and help.
