Randall Jeppesen, KSL Newsradio A middle school student was hit by a car on the way to school this morning.
Police say the 14-year-old girl crossing the street near 800 East and 200 South when the car hit her.
Mike Slaugh was working at a store nearby. He said he heard a loud boom and then a horrible sounding scream. He said this kind of accident has happened before, and he would like a stoplight installed at the intersection.
Officers say the driver didn't see her because the sun was in his eyes.

"If you can't see very good you should slow way down until you're sure it's safe," Larry Phorum of the Salt Lake City Police Department advised.
She suffered lacerations and a broken leg.
Police have not said if the driver will be cited.
