Nishi Gupta Reporting Police are looking for a suspect who killed one man and shot another in the head in South Salt Lake. The surviving victim was last listed in critical condition and was undergoing surgery at the University of Utah Medical Center.
Police say an argument at a late-night party in South Salt Lake led up to the shooting. Police got a "shots fired" call a little after 1:00 in the morning. When they responded, they found two victims, one was taken to the hospital. The other man had a gunshot wound to the torso; he was pronounced dead on scene.
Capt. Chris Snyder, South Salt Lake Police Dept.: "We're getting pretty good information that one of the suspects has gang ties, and that's helping our investigation as far as trying to identify him."
Police describe the shooter as possibly Hispanic, 5'10, about 200 pounds. They want to question another man that fled with the shooter. Police say they both left the scene in a green truck.
The victims names have not been released, police are still trying to locate family. The deceased victim is a 23-year old Polynesian man. The other victim is a 20-year old Polynesian man.
