(KSL News) -- Utah Power and two consumer groups have settled a lawsuit that could save Utahns money.
The committee says Utah Power's parent company, PacifiCorp, overcharged customers to pay income taxes. Utah Power's new parent company transfered stock in a geothermal company to help the settlement. And that could mean savings in the multi-millions to ratepayers.
Utah Power can now purchase that geothermal energy at cost, which will allow residents to avoid paying weather-increased rates by market demand.
