SALT LAKE CITY — A 25-year-old man was killed early Tuesday in an auto-pedestrian accident.
Just before 5 a.m. near the intersection of 100 South and 400 East, police say a man in dark clothing was crossing the street in a crosswalk, but apparently against the light. He was hit by a northbound vehicle driven by a 26-year-old man.
The 25-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, said Salt Lake police Sgt. Mike Hamideh. Police said he may have been wearing headphones.
Investigators believed they knew the man's identity Tuesday morning but were waiting to notify family members before releasing it publicly.
While detectives were investigating the accident and had the street blocked off, a man "failed to comply" with officers' orders to not cross into the crime scene and was arrested, Hamideh said. The man was believed to be intoxicated.
