LAYTON — Police have arrested a man they say attacked a woman Monday morning.

The woman was inside Snap Fitness, 781 E. Gordon Ave. in Layton, around 5:30 a.m. when she was grabbed by the only other person inside the gym at the time — a man who tried to pull her into a bathroom, Layton Police Lt. Garret Atkin said.

The woman was able to fight the man and free herself.

"This lady, this victim, did an outstanding job of fighting off her attacker and doing everything she could to get away from the scene, and then notifying the police department," said Sgt. Todd Derrick.

The woman sustained only minor injuries in the assault.

Derrick says it didn't take long for police to figure out a suspect since the man had to check in to get into the gym.

Police arrested Randy Inman, 25, of Layton, Monday night at his home. He was booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of aggravated kidnapping.
