(KSL News) A Colorado man drowned while swimming in Lake Powell.

Kane County Sheriffs deputies report 64-year-old John Lord was swimming with some friends Wednesday in Halls Creek Bay when he suffered cardiac arrest and sank below the surface.

Friends immediately retrieved him from the water and attempted CPR for an hour. Officials arrived and declared him dead on scene.

Lord was at Lake Powell celebrating the life of another friend who'd recently died from cancer.
