(KSL News) -- Union Middle School in Salt Lake County is the first in the nation to offer an immunization clinic to fight Whooping Cough.

Salt Lake Valley Health Officials say they've seen a 400- percent rise in Pertusis or Whooping Cough cases in the past 3- years.

They want to make parents aware there is help.

Dagmar Vitek, M.D., Salt Lake Valley Health Dept.: "If you have a child who has cough and the cough doesn't go away there is a test for Pertussis and now there is a vaccine"

Today's clinic at Union Middle School was a pilot program. Health workers will look at it. to decide if they should organize others.
