SOUTH SALT LAKE -- A 51-year-old man has died after being hit by a car at 3666 S. State Street.

Sgt. Gary Keller with the South Salt Lake Police Department says the man was trying to cross State at a place with no crosswalk or traffic signal when he was hit around 8:45 a.m.

Keller says the man crossed two lanes of traffic heading east before he was struck. The victim hit the car's front windshield, rolled up over the vehicle and hit the rear windshield.

He was taken to a local hospital but died there. His name has not been released.

Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Police say southbound State Street will remain blocked at 3600 South for the next two to three hours.
