SALT LAKE CITY — A trio of shootings kept Salt Lake City and Unified police busy on Sunday.
A man allegedly shot by his roommate Sunday night was listed in stable condition Monday and expected to survive.
Charles Jeffery Knabel, 46, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of attempted murder and battery.
About 8:30 p.m. Sunday, police received a call of a domestic dispute with shots fired at 1576 S. 600 East. When they arrived, a second roommate had pulled the 40- year-old victim out of the residence and was waiting on the front porch for emergency crews to arrive. That person told detectives he believed Knabel was still inside.
A SWAT team was called out and set up containment around the house.
After failing to make contact with Knabel, the SWAT team went inside and discovered he was no longer there. A couple of hours later, Knabel called police and officers picked him up near California Avenue and Pioneer Road.

In an unrelated second shooting incident Sunday night, Unified police detectives were called to a drive-by shooting at the Green Leaf apartments, 7940 S. Main.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said the incident was gang-related. But investigators weren't having much luck finding witnesses or people who were willing to talk about it, he said.
The teen who was shot and taken to a local hospital was improving, Hoyal said Monday.
Earlier Sunday, Salt Lake police responded to a report of a 21-year-old man who was accidentally shot in the neck by a person in the backseat of his car about 2:20 a.m.
Alex Lujan, 28, was reportedly handling a gun in the backseat when the firearm went off. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of evidence tampering after police say he hid the weapon.
The man who was shot was taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition.
