MILLCREEK — A man was hit and killed by a train on a Union Pacific tracks line Friday after reportedly walking into the path of the oncoming train.

The accident happened about 7:10 a.m. near 3900 South and 300 West.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said an adult male was spotted by the conductor sitting on a piece of cardboard next to the tracks. As the train approached, the man got up and walked onto the tracks, stood facing the train and tucked his head into his shoulders. The train was unable to stop in time.

"It appears to be intentional," Hoyal said of the victim's actions.

The man's name was not immediately released.
