WEST VALLEY CITY -- An overnight search by West Valley City police ended with a missing girl safe at home Friday morning.
Police picked up 11-year-old Abby Bellows at the Walmart at 4627 S. 900 East about five hours after she was reported missing.
Lt. Scott Buchanan with the West Valley Police Department says investigators received a tip to check on a child sleeping on a bench at the store. Investigators aren't sure if the child was sleeping inside or outside the Walmart.
When officers arrived, they determined that the child was Abby Bellows, who was last seen leaving school at Hunter Elementary in West Valley Thursday afternoon.
Lt. Buchanan says police don't think she was taken there by anyone. Abby told them she just decided to take a walk. Buchanan says because there doesn't seem to be any foul play involved, this isn't a criminal case.
Abby now is home with her family.
No word on why she decided to take a walk to the east side of the valley or what circumstances led her there.
