London (dpa) - Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has been named Spouse of the Year by a British magazine even before she celebrates the first anniversary of her marriage to Prince Charles on April 9, 2005.
The London-based magazine Oldie, which specializes in awarding honours to middle-aged celebrities, granted its annual award in recognition of Camilla's "strength and conviction under the gaze of the public eye."
The 58-year-old, who is currently on a visit to Egypt with Prince Charles, said in a statement she was "absolutely knocked out, thrilled to bits" over the award given while she was on "spousing duties" abroad.
Previously known as Camilla Parker Bowles, she tied the knot with the heir to the British throne after a 30-year romance, and has since won media praise for her conduct in her new public role.
