(KSL News) -- The November election is a long way off, but the work is already beginning.
Salt Lake County Republicans were working today getting ready for the precinct caucuses coming up this Tuesday.
Recently, 194 of the county precincts, or 25%, were realigned, meaning that caucus locations have changed.
The county parties just got the information on the new locations of 747 precincts, and have been scrambling to make sure participants know where to meet.
James Evans, Chmn. S.L. County GOP: "So basically we've been put in a difficult situation trying to communicate to all those wanting to participate in precinct caucuses, where their caucuses will be located. So we've been forced to set up this command post to make sure every thing is in place for this Tuesday, March 21st."
The precinct caucuses are important, because at these neighborhood gatherings, delegates are chosen. These delegates will then select candidates at the county and state level. It's the very beginning of the election process.
