SALT LAKE CITY — The organizers of the Occupy Salt Lake City movement announced Saturday that they are broadening their efforts.

"Occupy SLC is expanding its operations to two new fronts in order to create more demonstrations and include more volunteers who are interested in regaining their voice in the political system," a news release states.

There will now be a "satellite extension" that will hold camp outside the Salt Lake City branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco at 120 South State Street, spokesman Daniel Mace said. The news release clarifies that while sleeping on the sidewalk is legal, blankets and sleeping bags are not permitted under city ordinances. A general meeting will still be held nightly in Pioneer Park.

The group is also planning to hold bi-weekly “The 99% Town Hall by Occupy SLC" events at the downtown Salt Lake City Main Library at 210 E. 400 South on Mondays and Thursdays.

"Occupy SLC will be using this regular event to invite members who aren’t able to regularly meet at the park to discuss larger issues and plan bigger events for the movement," according to the news release. "The regular general assemblies at Pioneer Park will focus on smaller operations and camp logistics, while the 99% Town Hall will be used to focus on the greater campaign."

Demonstrators with the group set up camp in the southwest corner of Pioneer Park just over two weeks ago as part of a larger movement taking place in cities across the country.
