(KSL News) The primary election for Utah's municipal races is two days away, and with nine candidates running for Salt Lake Mayor, interest is high.

In a poll conducted by Dan Jones and Associates for KSL-TV and the Deseret Morning News, more than half, 57 percent, say they are highly interested in the race. Thirty-nine percent said they have a moderate interest in the election.

Those surveyed also were asked to compare this mayoral race to past races:

  • 38% said they are more interested this time;
  • 53% said they have about the same interest as in past elections.

Dan Jones conducted the survey this past week.

The two candidates receiving the most votes on Tuesday will then face off in November.
