SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Elizabeth Smart speaks out about her kidnapping experience in hopes of gaining support for a child safety bill.

Yesterday, 18-year-old Smart was on the Hannity and Colmes television program trying to drum up support for the measure.

The proposal would require background checks on teachers, extend sex offender registration requirements and create a national sex offender public Web site.

Smart also talked about her own alleged kidnappers, saying she has forgiven them and doesn't think about them anymore. She says she's moved on and now just hopes to make this world a better place.

The second part of her interview will air tonight on the Hannity and Colmes show on the Fox News Channel.
