(KSL News) -- Another study suggests consuming foods loaded with folic acid reduce the risk of stroke.
Scientists compared stroke deaths before and after the government mandated certain food products be fortified with folic acid. Since the 1998 mandate, stroke deaths have decreased by three percent each year.
Researchers published the study in The Journal of Circulation. They believe increasing folic acid can decrease amino acid levels in the blood stream.
High amino acid levels can contribute to strokes.
