Some life-long Ogden residents who remember the building in its hey-day came to watch.

"It was just always there. And now, to see this, it just makes you want to cry," One said.

"This building has been a familiar sight all my life. It's just sad to see it go like this," said another.

Floors on the century-old building were supported by large timbers, the fire leaving only a shell of bricks.

Investigators are following some leads, though the fire has not officially been called an arson. Police say there was a burglar alarm just 40 minutes before the fire started.

The building was set to house a museum.
