(KSL News) The main suspect in the disappearance of BYU student Brooke Wilberger is now standing trial in New Mexico.

Joel P. Courtney faces charges related to the kidnapping and rape of a University of New Mexico student in 2004.

Wilberger Suspect Goes on Trial in New Mexico

After the trial he is expected to be extradited to Oregon where he will face charges for Wilberger's disappearance and assumed death.

Wilberger was last seen in Oregon visiting family three years ago. Her body has never been found.
