(KSL News) -- A car thief tried to dodge police by hiding in a window well.
An officer running license plates near 106th South spotted a stolen car. He tried to pull it over, but the driver wouldn't stop. He followed the car into an undeveloped subdivision, where the driver stopped and bailed on foot.
Four police units and canines assisted with the hour long search. Apparently the man doubled back into an area the dogs already searched.
On a hunch, police went back, and the dogs traced the man's tracks to a window well near 10100 S. 900 West, where he covered himself in debris.
