SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Three women who were inmates at the Washington County jail have filed a federal lawsuit accusing the county and state of failing to protect them from sexual abuse.

The lawsuit targets a pair of prison guards who were convicted last year of having sex with inmates.

Former correctional officers Brian Stubbs and Charles Mrkvicka were each sentenced to 120 days in jail on felony and misdemeanor counts.

The women who filed suit yesterday weren't identified in court papers.
