Academy Award-nominated movie CAPOTE has inspired a resurgence in late writer TRUEMAN CAPOTE's popularity - and prompted the release of his unpublished first novel SUMMER CROSSING.
The PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN-starring movie has caught the imagination of a new generation and auction house Christie's are now planning to recreate flamboyant writer Capote's greatest social achievement - Truman's Black And White Ball.
The 1966 New York City party saw 500 acclaimed guests attend, among them FRANK SINATRA and ANDY WARHOL.
DEBORAH DAVIS, whose book THE PARTY OF THE CENTURY celebrates the Plaza Hotel event says, "Truman just wants to be famous again. He dominated the media in 1966 and 40 years later he's doing it again.
"With IN COLD BLOOD he really awakened our appetite for reality entertainment, and with the Black and White Ball he ushered in the whole age of the red carpet."
Hoffman's performance has earned him a nomination in the Best Actor category at Sunday's (05MAR06) Oscars. (FA/WNWR/JB)
