(KSL News) -- Police in Salt Lake are searching for who's responsible for the homemade bombs that forced the evacuation of a Salt Lake neighborhood.
Overnight a man told police someone gave his friend a bomb. The caller stored the explosives in the trunk of his car to keep them safe. Police were surprised by the variety of explosives they found.
Lt. Rick Findlay, Salt Lake City Police Dept: "There was in fact an improvised device, a homemade pipe bomb, as well as some blasting caps, and some other devices that, while stable, posed a hazard."
None of the devices were set to trigger.
The neighborhood around 1300 West 1300 North was evacuated while the bomb squad detonated the explosives. Residents were allowed to return home around one this morning.
Police are investigating where the devices came from, and how they got into the Salt Lake neighborhood.
