(KSL News) -- A BYU student may face federal charges for trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a minor.
The Utah County Sex Crimes Task Force arrested Jason Thornton last week. They say the 25-year old thought he was in a chat room with a 13-year old girl, who was really an undercover police officer posing as the girl.
Investigators say the man carried on a conversation for more than an hour and specified what sex acts he planned to do.
