(KSL News) A teenager is in the hospital, her car split in half, and authorities say road rage is to blame.
Witnesses say it looked like two cars were racing along I-15 near 13900 South. Jordan Gasser, 18, told troopers a black Honda was tailgating her.
She says she tried to move into the carpool lane, but lost control of her car. She crossed traffic, going 85 miles per hour, and slammed into a freeway post, breaking her car in pieces.
Martin Tanner/Utah Highway Patrol: "With the high amount of traffic, folks heading home from work, it's unbelievable that she crossed five lanes of traffic without hitting anyone else."
Gasser was flown to the hospital. Officials say, amazingly, she'll be okay.
Troopers are still looking for the black Honda. If you have information you can contact the Utah Highway Patrol at 887-3800.
