Samantha Hayes reporting Only three days left in these 2006 Winter Olympics, but the action is far from over. There's more to do on the ice and slopes, and the American's have a real chance to nab a few more metals.
Pavle Jovanovic, U.S. Bobsled Team: "That's my job to try and bring home a medal for the United States of America. I am not out here for any other reason and I want to make that perfectly clear."
A bold statement, but not far off what other Americans are saying as they head into Friday's events.
A bronze is a medal nonetheless, but speed skater Chad Hedrick makes it clear; he's had his sights set on gold.
Chad Hedrick, Gold and Bronze Medalist: "Obviously we got to win every time. And you sacrifice your life so much to come here and take gold. I can honestly say that this bronze medal around my neck is a great thing, but it's also motivation to go out Friday and work a little harder."
Hedrick headlines the field for the 10,000m skate. His main rival, Shani Davis withdrew from the event.
Todd Hays will be driving USA-1 in the 4-man bobsled tonight. He won silver in 2002, but this time wants nothing but gold. He boldly stated this week that this is, "my event."
Local Steve Holcomb will be driving USA-2 and hopes he and Ogden resident Billy Schuffenhauer can grab a spot next to Hays.
Steve Holcomb Pilot USA 2 Boblsed: "I think our sleds run real well here... A lot better than our 2-mans did. We've got great runners... Great push athletes. All together we could have a great week."
While there is still much to be settled on the ice, Olympic organizers are looking ahead. They promise a Closing Ceremony we won't want to miss.
Andrea Varnier, Image & Event Managing Director: "We believe and Toroc really wanted this touching moment when the flames will be extinguished, there will be a little secret that you will discover the night of the ceremony."
