Editor’s note: The only formal criminal charge filed from this case against Cleon Jones was possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, but a jury in 2007 determined that he was not guilty.

(KSL News) -- Investigators say a woman raped at gunpoint by a car salesman may not have told police the full story.

She told officers that Cleon Jones used private records from his company to track down and rape her.

But detectives believe the two had a previous relationship that likely involved criminal activity. Officials say an aggravated rape did take place, but they don't believe the attack was as random as originally thought.

Regardless of their prior relationship, police say the woman didn't deserve to be the target of the crime.

Police say Jones is still a predator.
