SALT LAKE CITY — A local television newswoman is recovering from injuries sustained last week in a hit-and- run accident while she was riding her bike.
Kerri Cronk, anchor of KSTU Ch. 13's "Good Day Utah," was riding her bike along Wasatch Drive about 6 p.m. on Aug. 5 when she was run off the road by a vehicle pulling out of Hogle Zoo, police said.
"The car caused her to lose control of her bike," said Salt Lake police detective Cary Wichmann.
It's unclear whether contact was made between Cronk's bike and the vehicle, but it resulted in the woman being run off the road and crashing, Wichmann said. The driver did not stop.
Police said Cronk was wearing a helmet, but they didn't know the extent of her injuries. Fox 13 reported that she sustained a broken neck, a concussion, a dislocated shoulder and various cuts and bruises.
Cronk was unable to get a good look at the vehicle but told police it was white. Police are hoping other motorists or pedestrians in the area witnessed the accident and can provide more information.
