Mary Richards, KSL NewsradioThe Jordan Board of Education expects a full house tonight for a public hearing over its recent pay raise.
Hundreds of phone calls, letters and e-mails flooded the Jordan District offices after the board of education bumped its pay. Board member Peggy Jo Kennett says, "There have been a lot of comments, and we want to be responsive to the public."
Kennett says most people she's heard from are fine with the board voting to raise members pay from $3,000 to $12,000 a year. She says the main issues people have are the insurance cash-out option and tying the raises to the consumer price index.
Kennett says she expects more people at tonight's hearing at 6 p.m. Many parents and teachers were on vacation for the last one.
