SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Food Bank's chief executive officer has resigned, the organization announced Thursday.
Jim Pugh is leaving to assume operations of a third- generation, family owned business. He has been with Utah Food Bank for 13 years.

"Jim's tenure has had a great impact on children and families experiencing hunger throughout Utah," said Marsha Gilford, board chairwoman for Utah Food Bank. "He has also been a great national influence with food-bank management groups across the country."
Under Pugh's leadership, the Utah Food Bank increased its distribution from 9 million to 33 million pounds of food per year, purchased and relocated to a new 86,000 square-foot facility, and opened a St. George branch.

Sue Skanchy, the food bank's chief financial officer, will serve as interim CEO beginning Aug. 1 while a search is conducted for Pugh's replacement. Skanchy has been with the organization for 17 years.
