John Hollenhorst Reporting A man is in serious condition after a shooting in Magna tonight. Sheriff's deputies say he was gunned down in front of two children.

It appears the victim will survive the shooting. Deputies are questioning the man's wife, but so far they've not made a formal arrest.

The victim was taken to a Life Flight helicopter shortly after 8 pm. He has at least one gunshot wound to the chest. A small caliber revolver was recovered just outside the trailer where the man and his wife live with their four children.

He's 33 years old, she's 24. Shortly after deputies arrived, they detained the wife for questioning, and called in her sister to take care of the kids, without telling her much.

Investigators say the wife called police from another phone. Apparently she couldn't find her phone. Two of the four children were present in the home tonight-- a two week old, and a two year old. The sister in law confirmed that the youngest child was born just two and a half weeks ago.

There's no word on what may have led to the shooting. There is some confusion on the name of the victim. Police released a name Friday night, then took it back, saying they're not sure.

The children have been placed in the custody of relatives.
