Samantha Hayes reporting Andrew Johnson took a chance eight years ago, and moved to Park City to be the first in a new program training young cross country skiers.
All of that has paid off. Johnson is now ready for his second trip to the Olympics.
Things are looking good for Andrew Johnson. On his 28th birthday he captured the men's U.S. title at Soldier Hollow, a major qualifier before the Olympic Games.
Andrew Johnson, Cross Country: "I think I can medal in relay, and anything less than that will be disappointing."
The Vermont native calls Utah home now, and appreciates the local support.
Andrew Johnson, Cross Country: "Phenomenal training, phenomenal weather for training. and a fun place to be and a great community of people."
Johnson started skiing when he was 7 years old. The Olympics have always been his number one goal.
Andrew Johnson, Cross Country: "Yeah, I'm living my dream and probably lots of other people's dreams. I appreciate that. I don't take it for granted. It's a good life for me.
You catch Johnson later today in the 15k, and on Sunday where he will take part in the men's relay.
