(KSL News) -- A police officer who stopped to help a motorist on the freeway this morning got hit by a car.
The Murray officer saw a truck slide off and hit a retaining wall near Interstate 15 near 5300 South. He got out to make sure the driver was okay.
That's when another driver lost control, hit the same retaining wall, then the officer, then the first car. That knocked the officer a second time.
Luckily, the officer suffered only minor injuries.
A woman and child in the Honda were also taken to the hospital to be checked out.
This is the third similar accident in the past two days.
Lt. Shawn Judd, Utah Highway Patrol: "Last night we had a trooper hit, fortunately he was not injured. Another trooper vehicle hit - trooper was not in the car. And then this morning unfortunately this Murray officer hit."
Drivers are required by law to slow down and change lanes if possible if they see vehicles with flashing lights on the side of the road.
