FARMINGTON — You know that feeling of fear mixed with excitement that you get on a roller coaster? Preston, who is afraid of heights, actually likes it.

He knows that when he challenges himself to do something he's afraid of, he can do anything. "They make me feel good," he said.

The 14-year-old was a little reserved at first, which was funny because he said of himself, "I like to talk a lot and I'm sure some people get tired of me talking so much." However, the rides brought him out of his shell and he started to share more of his personality. When we asked him what he wants to be when he grows up, his reply was "a singer, dancer, actor, doctor, teacher, (and) veterinarian."

Wednesday's Child Profile

Grade in School: 9th

Preston is very polite young man and likes to please others. With many interests Preston knows how to have fun. He also enjoys trying out different science experiments and likes to watch basketball and hockey. A love of helping others, he has set his sights on becoming a therapist, a caseworker, or a Special Education teacher.

Preston is a creative, sweet kid who wants very much to have a family to share his life with. "Because I don't have real parents, and (I) want a family that actually cares about me and loves me; likes me as who I am," he said.

Preston hopes adoption is in his near future. "I would have just people that would love and care," he said, adding that he doesn't really know what that's like.

As he prepares to start high school this fall, Preston is optimistic. He's got a bright future.

"I think my life is going pretty well," he said.

Lagoon is actually the only amusement park Preston has ever been to, but he would love to travel to others. CLICK HERE to see which Lagoon rides made his Top 5 and which he reluctantly left off.
