Sandra Yi reportingMidvale Police Department have announced three arrests in the beating and murder of George Banally.
George Banally was found a month ago in the rear of a Midvale city business. He had been severely beaten and left for dead in a parking lot. Several days later he died.
Rondal Eddie was arrested for 1st degree murder. Police served him with a search warrant at his home, and found undisclosed evidence. Police say Eddie has a history of drug charges.
Cory Preston Lee and Alexis Tallman were also arrested, and face charges of obstruction of justice, tampering with evidence and possession of stolen property.
All of the suspects live in the Salt Lake Valley.
Police say they are not sure where the beating happened. They say there are two possible locations. After the beating, the victim George Banally was dumped in a parking lot.
Police say that victim and the suspect knew each other. They say motive was robbery.
Tony Mason, Asst. Police Chief, Midvale: "The victims and the suspects were all acquaintances. They had an altercation, and subsequent robbery was after the fact."
Banally's injuries were so severe that he was not recognizable. Police were able to identify him through fingerprints and were able to find the car that Banally had been driving.
He remained in a coma for six days before he died from his injuries.
Banally was a regesterd sex offender, but police don't believe that had anything to do with the crime. He lived in the Ogden area, and had a wife and seven children.
