(KSL News) -- A Kearns man believed to be the leader of a national drug trafficking ring is going to prison.

Hipolito Lopez will serve 20 years behind bars. He pleaded guilty to distribution of cocaine and methamphetamine.

Lopez is one of 30 defendants arrested nationwide involved with Operation Trifecta. Authorities say it's one of the most significant drug smuggling enterprises ever.

The smugglers reportedly handled around 8.4 million dollars.
