It happened in the city of Durango, Mexico when Elder Petersen and his companion, Elder David Zuniga, were walking down a street. They saw the woman in distress and tried to intervene. The suspect, who was apparently drunk, turned his anger towards the missionaries.

Elder Petersen's parents provided photos of their son in Mexico. Elder Petersen was hit, suffered a concussion and was unconscious for several hours. Elder Zuniga was punched in the face and his nose was broken in the incident. He had surgery yesterday.

Elder Petersen's parents told us tonight that he is doing fine, he just hurts a little when he stands up. He and his companion are back in their apartment and are taking it easy for awhile until they recover.

The man involved in the attack was arrested.
