(KSL News) -- Utah is one of the top states in the nation for the number of high school students taking and passing advanced placement classes.
A new report released today ranks Utah third in both the percentage of students taking AP classes and those getting college credit from them.
Those who have studied Utah's program say there are a number of reasons we rank so high.
Tiffany Erickson, Deseret Morning News: "AP classes are offered in a lot of the districts and a lot of the schools in the state. Also, it's a great way to get college credit inexpensively and get your generals out of the way pretty easily before college."
One in every five high school seniors in Utah is eligible for some college credit through the advanced placement program.
