FM 100's Jill Atwood ReportingIt's hip, it's hot, it's new and it's fun. Utah women are popping and locking their way into great shape. In today's Smart Woman Jill Atwood from our sister station FM100 wants to know, when's the last time you danced?
Now we're not talking about dancing in front of your mirror at home, that doesn't count, you need to come down to the Rose Wagoner Theatre where you can let your inner J-lo come out.
From the streets to the studio, women are "working it" in a new hip hop class.
"I think I have the rhythm, I just don't have the hop."
"Hip hop is a dance, hip hop is art."
Some of these women have danced before, some have never had formal instruction, but here is doesn't matter, just move and have fun.
"He doesn't care if you do it right the first time, just as long as you have fun and put your flavor into it."
"Ro" Malaga Hip Hop Instructor: "Originally I'm from California, and everybody used to dance in the streets and in the neighborhoods, so that's where I picked up my break dancing and my street hip hop, you could call it."
Ro then brought his talents to The Rose Wagner Theatre where they're embracing all different forms of unique dance, from hip hop, to African to modern.
Jenny Jacobsen: "I haven't taken a dance class since 1989 and four kids later she says we are going to take this class. No I'm too tired, and she was, 'like we are doing it.'"
"It's a great way to keep in shape, for starters, but I just love the movement and the feeling of it."
So go ahead, see what you got, let loose a little. No one's watching, just our camera. It's great exercise and a lot of fun. So what are you waiting for?
