Gene Kennedy ReportingTwo cars go up in flames overnight, right outside homes. Investigators say these were not accidents.
One fire was on the north end of the Salt Lake Valley. The other happened just hours later in West Valley City.
Investigators say the fires are not connected.
The two fires are at least 10 miles apart, but investigators consider both suspicious.
Around 3:30 this morning, a Ford F-150 went up in flames in the driveway at 4416 S. 3720 West. The flames shot up in the air near the peak of the house.
Originally, firefighters thought the flames may have spread to the home. Luckily, not so. But the three people in the home had to evacuate. The house is okay, but the truck's a total loss.
And right next to the vehicle was a gas can. The homeowners say it's not theirs.

Earlier in the morning, a Ford Taurus station wagon parked outside a Salt Lake City home burst into flames. The homeowner -- a woman in her 50's -- got out of her house safely and called 911.
The fire spread to the exterior of the home, but the flames never burned through. There was only minor smoke damage to the home.
Investigators believe the car had been parked for a while. It was covered in pine needles. Fire investigators say it was intentionally set, possibly a gang retaliation that targeted the wrong person.
